Lily Wallace, Noreen Cronk, and Anne Vink stand behind Victoria Mayor Alan Lowe as he makes a painted handprint impression onto fabric that will be used on a mural in Napier, New Zealand, Victoria's sister city. The three women are members of the Creative Peace Mural Society.
Anne is the lead person heading up a mural project in Napier, New Zealand. This mural project is expected to be completed in Spring 2009. She recently met with Mayor Alan Lowe and members of the Creative Peace Mural Society, during a visit to Victoria, Canada.
The Victoria City Mayor and Council have provided funding to purchase the fabrics for the New Zealand mural. This is a Sister City gift from Victoria to Napier.
Connecting Hands from Around the World
December 2007
The Farquhar auditorium at University of Victoria was the scene of the December 6, 2007 unveiling of the fourth in a series of textile murals produced for the Creative Peace Murals initiative. The mural was designed by Dr. Carole Sabiston and created by children in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The event featured cultural performances of music and dance by local Victoria artists. Pianist Carolyn Tsao provided entertainment for the many guests, who included the Honourable Steven L. Point OBC, B.C. Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia as well as Uruguayan Ambassador to Canada, Alvaro Moerzinger.
The Creative Peace Mural Society is a non-profit organization whose aim is to create a deeper understanding between people and cultures around the world. The Canadian mural is currently on display at the Victoria Conservatory of Music.

The Creative Peace Mural Society has been invited by the Fundacion Don Pedro in Montevideo, Uruguay to work with their local community in the production of the next textile mural. This visit is scheduled for August 2007. The creative team is looking forward to this opportunity to work with the people in Montevideo and share learning about their cultures and ways of life.
Canadian Mural on Display

The Canadian Mural was on display at Eagle Ridge Community Centre as part of the Westshore Quilters' Show on April 27-29, 2007. We would like to thank the Quilter's Guild for their kind invitation to be a part of their first ever quilt show.
Japanese guests view the Canadian Mural

Nina Watai, a member of the Creative Peace Mural Society shows guests from Morioka, Japan the Canadian Mural. The mural is currently on display at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Morioka is the sister city of Victoria.

Swiss Mural Returns Home

The Swiss mural has now returned to the village of Mex, Switzerland. It was on display during the first of August Swiss Celebrations.

Victoria - Khabarovsk Association Annual General Meeting
May 2006
A presentation of 2 banners, designed by students from Mount Douglas School, was made by grade 12 students Ruiwei Jaing and Elaine Kao on behalf of the Creative Peace Mural Society and given to Sasha Mirzoyan representing the young people of Khabarovsk. Sasha will be returning to Khabarovsk on completion of his studies at Lester Pearson College. These banners were donated by Karol Story, Artopia Display Arts Ltd.
