The Murals
The Creative Peace Mural Project links and celebrates communities around the world. Each mural is designed and created by international communities/countries under the direction of the Creative Peace Mural Society.

Each textile mural is a local art project, representing the cultural diversity within the community. It gives all individuals of the community, including young, old, experienced and inexperienced the opportunity to discuss, decide and work together towards an art piece representing their part of the world.

Each mural is designed following the same theme of earth, sea and sky. It also illustrates day (sun) and night (moon) on the curve of the earth or on a horizon line. The outer border is made up of handprints, in gold, silver and copper - representing the people of the earth. The inner panel in the landscape show the history, geography and culture of the community/country. A small inner border displays the language(s) of the community. Each mural is made up of 10 vertical panels with an overall measurement of 5 m x2 m.

The panel design allows the completed mural to be easily packaged for shipping to various locations for exhibition both locally and internationally.

On the completion of each mural the community has a celebration event. This usually consists of local dancing, music and local culture.

A great number of volunteers are required to make a programme like this succeed. We thank and honour everyone who has participated and look forward to the involvement of many people over the completion of the remaining projects.
