A mural is constructed using a variety of textiles.
This includes plain and patterned cottons, metallic and other materials. Nets are used
to hold the pieces together. Materials and textiles typical of each mural location
will be included when possible.
Fabrics are layered in a collage technique. The images and
ideas are designed and prepared on paper before being constructed in fabric and applied to the mural.
Each mural consists of 10 separate vertical panels 5 m wide by 2 m high (15 ft wide by 7 ft high).
Each panel is sewn using a zigzag stitch.
This technique allows people with little or no experience to participate in
the creation process.
The panel design allows the completed mural to be easily packaged for shipping to various locations for display.
